Windows Live Mail

Step 1

Assuming you have already downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail (this does not actually come with Windows 7) click Windows Live Mail from the Start menu.  In Windows 8 Live mail is known as "Mail" and is an "app".

NOTE: we are less than thrilled with the performance of Windows Mail or Live Mail.  For simple messaging it seems fine but it struggles with both sending and recieving attachments.  If you are looking for a reliable and free Email client for Windows 7 or 8 we suggest using Thunderbird.  https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

Step 2

Under Quick views click on Add e-mail account.

Step 3

Enter your Email address as given to you by OWT. If not on your own domain this would be like username@owt.com Enter your password as given to you by OWT and optionally check Remember password. Enter your real name in the Display Name field. Check the Manually configure server settings for e-mail account. Click Next.

Step 4

My incoming mail server is a POP3 server. Incoming server: pop3.owt.com Port: 995 Check the box "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" - recommended Log on using Clear text authentication Login ID: enter JUST your username here not username@owt.com Outgoing server: smtp.owt.com Port: 587 Check the box "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" - recommened Check the box "My outgoing server requires authentication" Click Next
